This basic recipe can be multiplied as many times as you have money and appetite for.
1 stick butter (¼ lb) dash Worcestershire sauce 1 stack regular saltines 1 pint shucked oysters with liquid 4 oz whipping cream
Melt butter. Stir in Worcestershire sauce. Crush saltines (I just use my hands on 8-10 at a time) while butter is melting. Mix melted butter thoroughly into saltines. This much can be done ahead and sit around until you're ready to cook or go with you to make elsewhere. Mix in the oysters and pat the mixture into the baking dish. Gently pour the whipping cream over the top. Bake about 15-20 minutes (until bubbling) at about 425 in a shallow glass baking dish of a size such that the oyster mixture is about 1½-2 inches thick. Brown under the broiler (if you're pretty sure you won't just forget it and burn it all up). Leftovers can be microwaved very successfully.
